About the Author
Born in Mumbai, Sachin Tendulkar made his Test debut in Pakistan at the age of 16 in 1989. One of the most gifted and entertaining batsmen to have played international cricket, he scored more runs and made more centuries than any other player in history - in both Tests and ODIs. He made his first Test century at the age of 17, at the age of 36 he became the first player to make a one-day double century and in 2012 he scored his 100th international hundred. With India he won the World Cup in 2011 and reached the top of the world Test rankings in the same year. In 2013, he retired from cricket after playing his 200th and final Test in front of his home crowd in Mumbai.

An awesome perspective !

This was a priceless experience.. I wished the book didn't end. It was really refreshing to see things from Sachin's perspective. The only time I saw him live in a stadium finds a mention in his book as well, which was a pleasant surprise!

His child like enthusiasm for the game was plain to see on that day and throughout his career. This same enthusiasm is reflected right through the book as well. I enjoyed all of the anecdotes shared, most of which weren't public knowledge.

This is a must read for a Sachin fan. Even if you're not a fan of him or the game, it's still worth picking up to get an idea of literally the blood, sweat and tears that made up a legendary career. Life really begins now for you sir, wish you all the best!

Could have been lot better.

It is actually pretty ordinary . I did not get anything substantially new that I have not read elsewhere, which is not saying much anyway. There are anecdotes right through the book . Some of which I enjoyed .
Some of his early days in 80s made a good reading . Two things that I became more aware of were
He got injured badly right through his career and that bothered him and he struggled with it . Rather unfortunate or may be he was constantly pushing his body.
and the second one was he really loved and played for his personal records - centuries , # of tests ..there is a constant theme about these numbers in the entire book . Not to say he was selfish etc ….which he was not , but I just did not think he cared for his personal records as much.
That infamous declaration by Rahul which left him stranded @194 is another example. Rahul should not have declared (I did not know that Rahul delayed declaration in sydney test few months ago which may have robbed us of our first series win in aus) but Sachin was livid even after 24 hours !!! when Rahul came over to talk to him . SRT just could not let it go that Rahul tried to send a tough message to Pak that India means business (However bad that call was from Rahul). I just found that strange. Sachin loves his 100s and 200s.
For some one with whom he has scored maximum runs with , lack of warmth towards Rahul is conspicuous . He has good words for his knocks but nothing more . There is lot of warmth towards Anil, Sourav, Yuvi, Bhajji, Viru etc. Probably Rahul himself was reserved .
He talks about the entire 2011 Eng series and not a word about Rahul’s 3 centuries !!! - may be I am reading too much. I maybe biased because I was surprised by Rahul’s interview by Cricinfo following the release of this book and this incident . Rahul was unusually belligerent when asked if he was looking forward to read the book - he said something like “I am not looking forward to these aspects but I will look to his views on batting skills and how he prepared etc”….
Coming to cricket itself I was surprised as to how so many of his shots were played even before ball was delivered. It was surprising to learn the amount of pre-meditation and out-smarting that goes on !!.
This guy lived , breathed cricket - an ultimate Cricket Huccha.

An inspiring account both on and off the field!

This is an amazing and thorough account for one of the greatest cricketer of my generation! The less known stories of managing injuries and enduring tremendous pain for a greater cause is a takeaway for any person in any walk of life! The best part of this book is probably the unheard stories of Sachin's off the field partnership with Anjali, without whose sacrifice and support, we would not probably see such a terrific journey of 24 years!

And thanks a ton to Boria for batting with Sachin to write this book, to capture all those moments I grew up watching!

While the book is an autobiographical account and it does perfect justice to the genre, it would be more enjoyable with little bit more creative deviation, something from a narrator's point of view here and there!

Overall 'Playing it my way' is a must read for anyone who knows Cricket because it's about the GOD himself! A fav in my Kindle library!

The item was very helpful. It is only the first part of the whole edition: The electricity part, so if you are looking only for a part of the whole, this version will be the best option for you. Includes everything from practice problems and equations to answers on the back.

This text has made my semester hell!

The other reviews sum it all very nicely, this is a terrible physics text. Notice how heavily the number of one and two star reviews outweigh 3,4, and 5 star reviews. If you are a teacher, instructor, or professor, and use this text, you are a bad person. I just can't even express in words how bad everything is done. 80% of the time spent in this text is trying to figure out what went on in an EXAMPLE'S intermediate step.

Tipler - Dull & stiff

Generally a good book, if you just want to learn the formulas. The reasoning behind deriving the formulas and explaining physical concepts lacks depth and thorough explanation, so much of it is like "this is the way it is, so this leads to that". Tipler seems to be caught up with juggling the mathematical equations. This means that you will not grasp the ideas behind it all, and leaves you without the proper understanding to tackle the level III problems, as stated by so many of the other reviewers. Even though there exists a lot of examples, they still don't make up for the lack of profound explanations. One way to deal with it is to first read the corresponding chapter in Feynman Lectures On Physics and look at Tiplers examples, perhaps then you will be better off. So unfortuenately this is not the book that inspires you about the subject just dealth with, more it gives you the feeling of "phew! I got past this part", this I consider is the most critical point of all books, they should be more than a reference manual, they should inspire and exite you about the subject.

Comprehensive coverage of Modelica

This book is one of the first widely available books to cover Modelica. The author Peter Fritzson has been instrumental in the development of Modelica, and the reader will benefit of his large experience and in depth knowledge of Modelica.
The author has collected and enhanced material available form other place such as the web site of the Modelica organisation. In one volume, you will find examples, reference to the language syntax and libraries, algorithm and description of some development and simulation environment. So the first benefit of the book is to be a handy single reference.
The book goes beyond just being a collection of already published material. There are a couple of chapters that provides material not available elsewhere or new light on existing ones. I particularly appreciated the discussion of Modelica packages and how they compare with Java (topics that can be confusing and generally overlooked). I also found the chapter on applications very interesting, as it shows how Modelica can be applied to other systems than the classical, electrical and mechanical ones. It would have been worthwhile to expand the examples on economics and biology. There are also a lot of useful tips on modeling techniques and the algorithm used beyond the scenes.
I think that anyone with an interest in Modelica should get the book, and currently there is no better alternative. The book would also be useful for readers not necessarily interested in Modelica but with a general interest in Modeling and Simulation, as it does cover the state of the art in this field.
I have removed a star, because I found the book confusing at times. Peter Fritzson doesn't want to overlook any aspect of Modelica, and as such even the minor or more marginal topics are covered, sometimes in some details. For example, I found too much emphasis given on MathModelica and XML representation of Modelica. I think it would have been better to leave those topics purely in Appendix and not spread them over some chapters. I also think the emphasis isn't always right. There are pages and pages that describe the flattening process to get a flat equation model from its Modelica representation. In comparison, there is actually quite little on the techniques used to solve this flat model (e.g. application of topological sort, use of biparty graph to solve dependencies between variables and equation, simplification based on the Pantalides algrorithm). It would have been worth to work a complete example through. A possible suggestion in order to keep the book small while not missing much of the material, would be to provide a CD with the Modelica library, the MathModelica examples.
Overall a very good book that provides a comprehensive coverage of Modelica and recommended to anyone working with Modelica.

Essential for Learning Modelica

This is an essential book if you are using Modelica. I have found it invaluable, with excellent examples and decent explanations. The 3.0 version of the Modelica specification was rewritten by Fritzson, excerpts of it are essentially identical to passages from this book (the 3.0 specification is a definite improvement compared to the 2.2 specification).

My only serious complaint is that page numbers in the index do not match the actual pages; they are off by 2 for pages greater than about 80. This is a minor nuisance, but because it is consistent one learns to adjust.
