"Duende"( A lovely poor gypsy family with an unhappy daughter)

The list of stories in this book are "The Paris Gown" (What a young woman does to have personal freedom,Amusing) "The Trees" ( About four rich sons and their loyalties) , "Pay the Criers" ( A man's mother-in law dies. Funny), "Pilgrimage"(A rich white woman joins her maid on a pilgrimage), "Duende"( A lovely poor gypsy family with an unhappy daughter),"Recast"( A man callled Manolo who built a shell of destructiveness around himself to protect himself, funny), "The Secret Room" ( A german man living in Chihuahua with secrets), "The Burning" (A healer is suspected of being the devils pawn), "If it weren't for the Honeysuckle" (Abused women making changes), "Rain of Scorpians" (Poverty ridden town living in the Smeltertown,breathing in sulphur, all finding a way to live, fight ,accept.Interesting). The author can be too wordy at times, but you will find incredible unexpected gems in all the stories. I think she's very imaginative,creative, funny and romantic. She was a drama instructor, producer, director and once hostess of talk show , radio KIZZ, El Paso, Texas. Check out her play " The Day of the Swallows" it is in Contemporary Chicano Theatre, edited by Roberto Garza.
